Kas di Pal'i Maishi Museum is 8 mi. (13 km) w. of the airport at Dokterstuin 27 in Weg naar Westpunt. The Sorghum Stalk House, built in the late 19th century, is typical of the rural dwellings in which most of the island's Afro-Curaçaoan population lived until the 1950s. Walls are made of loam and branches, the floor of loam, cow dung and caustic lime; the roof is thatched with sorghum stalks. Period artifacts include furniture and cooking utensils.
