Bureau of Engraving and Printing is s. of the Washington Monument grounds at 301 14th St. S.W. (at C St. S.W.). This is where the U.S. government designs, engraves and prints currency, passports and other miscellaneous items. A visitor center has related exhibits, including various engraved cards and uncut currency sheets that may be purchased.

Note: Fluctuating security levels may affect public access; phone ahead to verify schedule. Sharp objects are not allowed in the building. Photography is not permitted in the gallery. Same-day tickets for tours may be obtained at the booth on Raoul Wallenberg Place beginning at 8 a.m., early Mar. through Aug. 31; no tickets are required rest of year. Tickets are limited, and lines often form an hour or more before ticket booth opens. One person may obtain up to four tickets.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
