AAA/Greg Weekes
AAA Editor Notes
Enid A. Haupt Garden is at 1000 Independence Ave. S.W., adjacent to the Smithsonian Institution Building (the Castle). It is literally above the roofs of the National Museum of African Art, the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery and the S. Dillon Ripley Center.

The centerpiece is a Victorian-style parterre, its formal look accentuated by seasonal plantings arranged in geometric motifs. The Moongate Garden was inspired by the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, China, while the Fountain Garden is modeled after a courtyard in the Alhambra in Granada, Spain.

Guided tours are available.
