National Building Museum is at 401 F St. N.W. between 4th and 5th sts. N.W. Housed in a massive historic brick building, its rotating exhibits examine various aspects of building construction, including architecture, design, engineering, construction and urban planning. Every summer visit a one-of-a-kind interactive installation. The dramatic Great Hall, site of presidential inaugural balls, has 75-foot-tall brick Corinthian columns.

Guided tours are available. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
