The Strand

The Strand, near the river, is a block-long street bordered by shady brick walks and brick gutters. A number of townhouses dating from the 18th century survived the great fire that swept the street in 1824. The law office of Thomas McKean, a delegate to the Continental Congress of 1774, was at 22 The Strand. Packet Alley runs from The Strand to the river.
