Rockwood Museum, off I-95 exit 9 (Marsh Rd.) at 610 Shipley Rd. Museum entrance is off Washington Street extension. A rare example of Rural Gothic architecture, the 72-acre estate contains an 1851 manor house furnished as it was in 1892. Also on the grounds are a conservatory, the gardener's cottage, the carriage house, a lighted walking trail and six acres of gardens that exemplify fine landscape design. Guided tours of the grounds are available. Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
Grounds free. House tours $10; $4 (ages 7-12); free (military with ID and to all the first Sun. of the month).
Hours: Grounds daily dawn-dusk. House tours are given on the hour Wed.-Sat. 10-3, Sun. noon-3. Closed major holidays.
