John Paul II National Shrine is at 3900 Harewood Rd. N.E. Established by the Knights of Columbus, this shrine to Blessed Pope John Paul II, who served as pope for 27 years, pays tribute to his tireless outreach to people of all faiths. The shrine is a national center for the New Evangelization. Exhibits focus on his life and legacy and North America's Catholic heritage. The permanent exhibit A Gift of Love: The Life of Saint John Paul II features nine galleries that explore his life and papacy through interactive displays, personal artifacts and two films. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.

Hours: Shrine open Mon.-Sat. 10-5, Sun. noon-5. Permanent exhibit Tues.-Sat. 10-5, Sun. noon-5. Mass is held Mon.-Sat. at noon, Sun. at 2. The rosary is said Mon.-Sat. at 11:40. Permanent exhibit closed Good Friday, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Phone for shrine holiday schedule.
