Voice of America, 330 Independence Ave. S.W. at 3rd St. S.W., is a multimedia international broadcasting organization with programming in 45 languages. Visitors can take a 30-minute guided tour of the radio and television studios. Ben Shahn's mural “The Meaning of Social Security” can be viewed at the end of the tour; it depicts the significance of this New Deal program created by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
Free. Reservations are recommended.
Hours: Tours given Mon.-Fri. at noon; visitors should arrive 15 minutes prior to allow time to pass through the required security check. Closed federal holidays.
