The first night was fine but the second night turned into a nightmare that has not yet been resolved either by the hotel or AAA. After a day of sightseeing, I returned to find out that there was a power outage in that portion of the city -- the hotel was in darkness -- no emergency lights, no exit signs and daylight was fading. Police had stopped traffic entering the neighborhood. The hotel's front desk computers and phones and some elevator service was available, but there was no security (the passkey system restricting access to the guest room levels was not activated) and no safety (no smoke alarms/no emergency egress signage). By my personal flashlight I was able to collect my belongings and find another much more expensive hotel to complete my stay. I was promised at the front desk I would not be charged for that night. So far, they have told AAA they have no record of check-out and only refunded half of that night. So far, AAA seems to have accepted that misrepresentation. I have turned the mess over to American Express.
Pros: In the midst of the chaos related to the power outage, the front desk staff appeared to be helpful, trying to secure a room for me at another property. Ultimately, I was able to book another hotel room at a different chain on my own.
Cons: See above.

Traveling as Couple
Pros: Great room for the price. Room had 2 queens and a couch/TV area. Hotel is about 0.5 miles from the heart of downtown. Worth the walk, considering you can save about $100/night compared to an equivalent hotel right downtown.
Cons: Breakfast buffet is overpriced and mediocre. It's the type of hot continental breakfast that's free at many chains, but cost $16/person here.

Family with Young Children
Pros: room very spacious, cozy. daughter liked having her own space to watch Tv. pool area with deck nice, great view of skyline as well. only 1/2 mile walk to get to White house. taxi ride not expensive to get back to hotel
Cons: There is construction going on on the backside of the hotel so if your room is on that side, be prepared to be woken up around 6-630 when construction starts during the week. off street parking limited, had to use hotel/valet parking
