AAA Inspector Notes
This grand 1930s hotel overlooking Rock Creek Park has been restored to its previous splendor. Crystal chandeliers, ornate moldings and high ceilings add to the lobby's grandeur. The beautiful landscaped gardens, complete with a domed gazebo and hammocks, slope down to overlook Rock Creek Park. Guest rooms are tastefully decorated with dark wood furniture, upgraded bedding and flat-panels TVs. Guests can choose rooms with park or city views, and some rooms even offer a balcony. Guest baths are compact, however, they offer luxurious appointments with marble floors and granite vanities. Gracious and attentive services are fitting to such elegant surroundings. Since its opening in 1930 the hotel has seen many celebrities and politicos grace its halls, from stars such as Liza Minelli performing in the Blue Room to Tip O'Neill's weekly poker game. Those who are supernaturally inclined will find interest in the Ghost Suite and the odd occurrences it has seen. Guest rooms in the rear of the building are decorated to the same tasteful standards; however, they are a bit more compact. Pets are accepted but must weigh 25 pounds and less. Guests will also enjoy 24-hour room service. Free wifi in public spaces. Smoke free premises. 836 units, some two bedrooms. 5-8 stories, interior corridors. Accessibility (Call).

Pros: Staff is very friendly & bright & organized; hotel location fabulous; hotel itself very pleasant with beautiful lobby & grounds.
Cons: Small thing, but in this day & age would expect a USB port somewhere in room to charge phones, Ipads, etc.

Poor

Pros: It is close to the metro at Woolley Park. Easy on and off to downtown DC. Also it is right across from some great places to eat. 'Open City' is a great restaurant. They even gave me free postage when my hotel could not provide for me.
Cons: Other than the concierge this was a very poor experience. The valet is owned by a different company. I was not informed. They acted like the hotel. So room temp at 76 told it was ok, lost my car, could not get in touch with staff. Horrible.
