El Carmen Museum (Museo del Carmen) is just s. of Av. La Paz at Av. Revolución #4 and Monasterio (Metro: Miguel A. de Quevedo, line 3). It occupies a former Carmelite convent dating from 1615. The building is distinguished by carved doors, baroque altarpieces, a fine collection of religious paintings and three domes, each tiled in a different color. The cloister's garden has a tropical look, unusual for Mexico City.
