Wells' Built Museum of African American History & Culture is at 511 W. South St. Orlando's African American history is depicted through photographs, artifacts and multimedia exhibits. The former hotel built by Dr. William Monroe Wells, one of the area's first Black physicians, was a safe haven to Black visitors, including Ella Fitzgerald and Jackie Robinson, due to Jim Crow laws.
