Eastern Florida State College Planetarium & Observatory is 2.5 mi. e. of I-95 exit 201 on SR 520, then 1.75 mi. n. on SR 501 to 1519 Clearlake Rd. The planetarium is in Building 19 at the back of the Eastern Florida State College campus. Visitors can look through a 24-inch telescope at the observatory to see objects in the solar system. The Science Quest Demonstration Hall features hands-on space science exhibits. The planetarium gallery displays changing art exhibits. Other options include planetarium shows, large-format films in the Iwerks Discovery Theatre and laser shows.
Film, planetarium or laser show $8; $7 (ages 55+ and students and military with ID); $5 (ages 0-12). Rooftop observatory and exhibit halls free.
Hours: Planetarium shows Wed. at 2, Fri.-Sat. at 7. Large-format films Wed. at 3:15, Fri.-Sat. at 8:15 p.m. Laser show Fri.-Sat. at 9 p.m. Exhibit hall Wed. 1:30-4:30, Fri.-Sat. 6:30-10:30 p.m. Observatory telescope Fri.-Sat. dusk-10 p.m. (weather permitting). Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
