Lowe Art Museum, University of Miami is w. of jct. US 1 and Stanford Dr. at 1301 Stanford Dr. Opened in 1950, the museum houses more than 18,000 objects representing western and non-western art from classical to contemporary. Spanning 5,000 years, the collection includes Greco-Roman antiquities, Italian renaissance and baroque art, pre-Columbian and southwest Native American pieces and artworks from the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa. More than 150 glass pieces are on display in the Myrna and Sheldon Palley Pavilion for Contemporary Glass and Studio Arts gallery. Traveling exhibits also are offered.
