Flamingo Gardens, off I-595 exit 1B, then 3 mi. s. to 3750 S. Flamingo Rd., contains trees and plants indigenous to subtropical forests. A wildlife sanctuary is home to Florida panthers, a black bear, bobcats, river otters, alligators and flamingos, while a free-flight aviary houses birds native to Florida. American bald eagles can be seen in the Bird of Prey Center. Visitors may take a 25-minute narrated tram tour through a rainforest, wetlands and native oak hammocks. The historic Wray Home, built by the gardens' founders, is on site; guided tours are offered. Wildlife shows also are presented.
