Jonathan Dickinson State Park, 2 mi. s. on US 1, comprises 11,500 acres, including the Loxahatchee River. Bald eagles, scrub jays and sandhill cranes are among the birds that thrive amid the park's abundant plant life. Two-hour guided tours aboard the Loxahatchee Queen III depart to Trapper Nelson Interpretive Site on the river; it is accessible only by boat. Canoe and kayak rentals are available. Guided trail rides also are offered in winter. Guided tours are available. Recreational activities are permitted. Camping is permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available.
$6 (per private vehicle with two to eight people); $4 (motorcyclists or single-occupant private vehicle); $2 (per person arriving by bicycle or on foot). River tour fare $24; $13.88 (ages 3-12).
Hours: Park open daily 8-dusk. Visitor center open daily 9-5. River tours depart daily at 9, 11, 1 and 3.
