Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, 829 Riverside Ave., offers more than 4,900 objects in its permanent collection and 2.5 acres of historic riverfront gardens. World-class art spanning from 2100 B.C. through the 21st century includes masterworks such as paintings by Peter Paul Rubens and Adolphe William Bouguereau, and American works by Thomas Moran and Winslow Homer. Also of interest is a significant collection of 18th-century Meissen porcelain.
Art Connections, the museum's education center, features an interactive teaching gallery emphasizing art, music, literature, history, poetry and dance. Traveling exhibitions complement the permanent collection. Three gardens enhance and surround the campus on the St. Johns River.
