AAA Inspector Notes
This hotel embodies a slice of Miami Beach's flamboyant heyday era. Originally built in the 1950s by famed architect Morris Lapidus, the hotel has been restored to its previous age of glamour. There are more than ten guest room categories to choose from ranging from the stylish superior queen to the opulent penthouse. All guest rooms have nautical motif nuances while featuring white marble floors with sisal rugs, 48-inch televisions and gourmet honor bars uniquely displayed in vintage steamer trunks. Due to the historical nature of the property the bathroom space is variable with some limitations in size; however, the customized appointments make the bathrooms comfortably practical. There are many highlights of this property, besides the enviable location, including a heated, saltwater pool with underwater music. Smoke free premises. 250 units. 8 stories, interior corridors.

Superb
Pros: Beautiful view from my room (5th floor, view w/ balcony room). Friendly hotel staff. There is a free South Beach shuttle around the area, which is nice for tourists and residents, and saves on walking distances.
Cons: Food available at the hotel was pretty limited (didn't eat breakfast). Nobody took drink orders at the lobby bar except for the bartender (at 5 PM during happy hour). The amenities charge was $30 per day - pretty steep.

Nice hotel, good value for...
Pros: The breakfast buffet was excellent. I thought the omelettes were a nice touch. Our waiter, Vasil was excellent and offered us an excellent service. I liked the size of the hotel. The beds in our bedroom were very comfortable.
Cons: Would have appreciate that we be able to be better accommodated with respect to a late checkout.
