AAA Inspector Notes
Inspector Pick (Eclectic/Unusual): Discovering a basement nightclub with bowling alley and mini-ice skating rink are just a few of the many impressive attributes I find interesting her.
This latest lifestyle-brand property by famed hotel icon Ian Schrager has made a big splash in Miami Beach with its innovative design concept and personalized service. Your senses will come alive while staying here. Designed for today's sophisticated traveler, this urban resort is a 3.5-acre oasis that pushes all boundaries with such advents as "The Basement," a multifaceted entertainment hub with an ice skating rink, bowling alley and nightclub. The "Sand Box" is a popular day or night oasis with hammocks and day beds in a romantically secluded tropical alcove. The food and beverage outlets are all under the guidance of famed celebrity chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. The dining and bar options include the oval-shape Matador Room and the Matador Bar with a bull-fighting theme resonating throughout. The guest room décor is light and bright with numerous categories, including bungalow units offering the most exclusivity with private rooftop decks and plunge pools. Smoke free premises. 294 units. 5-11 stories, interior corridors.

Very good
Pros: Starbucks is across the street Jean George restaurants.... especially the guava doughnuts and the guacamole. The quiet areas with no music.
Cons: White polyester looking outfits at front desk looked dirty. If they are not pristine white 100% of the time find another solution. It destroys the look and feel trying to be achieved. Trying to upsell rooms at check in is tacky. I was only offered an upgrade after I mentioned I am a Marriott member when I asked about points. Not having a coffee maker in the room really inconvenient. Service at Market (dinner) and the bar comically bad.... just a lot of apologizing instead of seamless attentiveness. The staff at breakfast was excellent, however.

Great stay and vacation at...
Pros: Location is perfect. Property was beautiful. The staff were absolutely amazing from the front desk, to the pool staff (Sonia was wonderful), restaurant staff (Patrick, Alex, Juan were a pleasure), bar staff, etc. Overall great experience. The resort ambiance is great and they have done a marvellous job in creating the environment both inside and outside of the resort. Beyond being on the beach, there is a great boardwalk running north/south from the hotel. Will take you to the core of South Beach, Lincoln Road, etc. Highly recommend others to try this resort.
Cons: Property was pricey and I was surprised the beach umbrellas were not included in the price. Umbrellas are $25US per day. Pool side a bit crowded with lounge chairs inches apart. In addition to room price, there are 5 other charges added including Occupancy tax, state room tax, local room tax, resort fee and resort fee tax. No coffee maker in the room - would be a nice addition. There are definitely much more positives versus negatives on this hotel. Highly recommend you going.
