Highly recommend, great value, and...
Pros: Staff is extremely kind and accommodating. We arrived very early on our check in day, and were offered access to the private shower upstairs and also to leave our bags at the hotel so we could enjoy our time on the beach. Once our room was ready, we got a nice call from the front desk and our bags were safely already in our room when we returned! Rooms are extremely clean and well kept, and had an extremely comfortable bed. I was also pleasantly surprised that even though our room was one door away from the common area, it was not noisy for us at night when we were going to sleep. Not even with foot traffic of visitors going to their rooms further down the hall.
As far as hotel look and feel, I loved the design and overall theme! It had bright room and pool deck elements, with plenty of areas to hang out (but you weren't competing for space with other guests). For the interior common areas, the mood was great and had this glamorous feel with the furniture and layout.
In relation to where most activities are on South Beach, the hotel is a little out of the way for walking distance (at least during the blaring hot summer), but is a cheap and quick Lyft/Uber ride away. The hotel currently has a deal with the 18th street access point to the beach for umbrellas and beach chairs, which is walk-able but not super close, either. I love that you could easily take a car off the beach to visit the design district/midtown in under 20 minutes, too.
Cons: I can't recall with 100% accuracy if this was mentioned during booking, but a little heads up that there were rooms with "voyeur showers" (read: see-through glass panel next to the bed rather than a solid wall) would have been great. Fortunately I was traveling with a very, very close friend of mine and we were comfortable showering without the privacy, but for any other friends it would have been a pretty uncomfortable situation.
Breakfast hours also seemed oddly early for beach life. I used to live in the area for a couple of years and it felt pretty rare to see many people stirring out of bed before noon. But breakfast here went early until only I think 11/11:30AM.
