The Holocaust Museum & Education Center of Southwest Florida is at 4760 Tamiami Tr. N. More than 11 million people were victims of the Holocaust. The museum chronicles the history of the Holocaust and houses more than 1,000 artifacts including donated items such as armbands and attire worn by the prisoners, medical items, documents and photographs. World War II-era exhibits, including the history of a railway boxcar, are on display. Traveling exhibits and educational programs also are offered. Note: Due to the sensitive nature of many of the photographs, it is advised that children under 12 be accompanied by an adult. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
$10; $5 (ages 12-18). Under 12 are permitted with parental approval.
Hours: Tues.-Fri. 12:30-5, Sat.-Sun. 1-4, Jan.-Apr.; Tues.-Sun. 1-4, rest of year. Guided tours are given Tues.-Fri. at 1 and 2:30, Sat.-Sun. at 1:30, Jan.-Apr.; Tues.-Sun. at 1:30, rest of year. Closed major holidays.
