AAA Editor Notes
Big Tree Park is n. on US 17/92, then 1.5 mi. w. on Gen. Hutcheson Pkwy. A boardwalk in the 11-acre park once led to The Senator, a giant cypress tree that was one of the largest and oldest in the United States. In January 2012, fire destroyed the 3,500-year-old tree, which was 118 feet high with a diameter of 11.5 feet and a circumference of 35 feet; the remainder of the tree is 20-25 feet high. The park also is home to the 89-foot-high Lady Liberty, a 2,000-year-old giant cypress with a diameter of 10 feet. A trailhead to the Cross Seminole Trail is on the grounds.

Picnicking is permitted.
