Fort Barrancas is on the Naval Air Station Pensacola and part of the National Naval Aviation Museum; entrance is through the West Gate off Blue Angel Pkwy. This is one of several U.S. forts built by the U.S. Corps of Engineers in the 19th century along northwestern Florida's coastline. A dry moat surrounds the inner walls and makes access to the fort possible only by way of a drawbridge.
Note: To enter the air station, visitors (ages 16+) must present a valid I.D. Backpacks are not permitted in the National Naval Aviation Museum, and purses and smaller bags are subject to search. Contact the fort for additional restrictions.
