Florida Carriage Museum at the Grand Oaks Resort is at 3000 Marion County Rd. On a 400-acre horse farm in Florida's horse breeding and training country, this museum displays a collection of more than 160 restored two- and four-wheeled conveyances, including an 1840s dress chariot owned by Emperor Franz Josef of Austria. The grounds include carriage paths, the Qin Dynasty Gardens, a Japanese koi pond and a variety of horses, including a rare Poitou donkey. Carriage tours and carriage driving lessons are available. Guided tours are available. Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
$15; $7.50 (ages 4-12). Guided tours additional $5. Carriage ride (maximum of six people) $75. Carriage driving lesson starts at $100. Combination tickets are available.
Hours: Daily 10-4. Guided tours depart daily at 11 and 2. Carriage rides and carriage driving lessons by advance reservation. Last admission 1 hour before closing. Closed Jan. 1, Easter, July 4, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
