Norton Museum of Art is at 1451 S. Olive Ave. Parking with free shuttle service is available at 1501 S. Dixie Hwy. This museum is recognized for its extensive permanent collection of European, American and Chinese art; contemporary art and photography. Highlights include ancient bronzes, jades, ceramics, 19th- and 20th-century paintings and sculpture by such European artists as Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse, Claude Monet and Pablo Picasso; and American artists including Edward Hopper, Georgia O'Keeffe and Jackson Pollock. Also available are special events and performances, educational programs and family offerings. Audio tours in English and Spanish are available. Note: The museum and its grounds are undergoing an expansion until 2018 but are expected to remain open; phone ahead. Guided tours are available.
Free. An additional fee may be charged for programs and performances. Reservations for most programs are recommended and are required for Family Studio. Phone ahead to confirm schedule and admission.
Hours: Tues.-Sun. noon-5 (also Thurs. 5-9). Guided tours are given Tues.-Sat. at 12:30, Nov.-May; Collection Highlights tours are given Sun. at 2. Art After Dark tours Thurs. 5:30-7:30, year-round. Family Studio Sat. at 10:30, year-round. Closed Jan. 1, July 4, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Allow 1 hour minimum.
