AAA Editor Notes
Pebble Hill Plantation is 5 mi. s. on US 319 and was settled by the Johnson family and their enslaved workers. Following an 1896 sale, it served as the former winter retreat of the Hanna family of Cleveland. Pebble Hill is surrounded by extensive grounds. The lavish neoclassical main house is typical of late 19th- and early 20th-century homes built in the area by wealthy Northerners. Sporting-themed art, antiques, Audubon prints and Native American artifacts are displayed in the main house. Grounds highlights include gardens, redbrick outbuildings and the stable complex.

Guided tours are available.
