Callanwolde Fine Arts Center is at 980 Briarcliff Rd. N.E. (MARTA: Edgewood/Candler Park station to bus #6). This 1920s Tudor Revival style, 27,000-square-foot mansion was built for Charles Howard Candler, eldest son of Asa Candler, the founder of The Coca-Cola Company. The 12-acre estate includes gardens, a conservatory, a carriage house and a restored pool house. Classes in the arts, rotating contemporary art gallery exhibits, performing arts events, a summer concert series and “Christmas at Callanwolde” are presented throughout the year. The on-site café is open Mon.-Thurs. 3-8, Sat. 9-2. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
Grounds free. Tours $12; $10 (ages 65+ and students with ID); $8 (ages 4-12). Phone ahead for arts education and arts event prices.
Hours: Mon.-Fri. 9 a.m.-10 p.m., Sat. 9-4. Self-guiding mansion tours Mon.-Fri. 11-4. Guided tours are available by reservation. Last tour begins at 3:30.
