The Wren's Nest

The Wren's Nest, 1050 Ralph D. Abernathy Blvd. S.W. (MARTA: West End station and bus #71), was the home of author and journalist Joel Chandler Harris from 1881 until his death in 1908. Best known as the creator of the “Uncle Remus Stories,” Harris was a folklorist who preserved the Brer Rabbit stories that otherwise might have been lost. The original 1870 house was remodeled in 1884 to its current Victorian appearance and features original Harris family furnishings.
