Pros: Proximity to the Atlanta airport cannot be beat. We just hopped on theSkyTrain and within minutes we were at the terminal. We had an earlyflight the next morning, and live 2 1/2 hours from Atlanta, so itwas very convenient to spend the night at this hotel and hop onto theSkyTrain the next morning. I got a great deal on Booking.com for thenightly rate. Parking is relatively inexpensive ($16/day) and so yousign up to leave your car at the hotel parking lot for your trip'sduration. It is a safe and secure lot, with wide enough spaces (unlikethe airport parking) that you don't feel your car will be dinged anddented by the time you return from your trip. The rooms are clean, thebeds and even the sofa beds are comfortable. The shower/sink area isseparate from the toilet/second sink area, which we liked. We havestayed here many times when taking early flights out of atl, and we willcontinue to stay here for that reason. It is cheaper than the Marriottacross the street--the only other SkyTrain hotel. We have stayed at theMarriott on prior occasions, when we could get a special rate; theirpool is much nicer, and it is a more upscale hotel, but for ourpurposes, this hotel is the better choice for our family, all around.
Cons: You have to put your room key into a slot in order to turn on lights orpower in the room. A bit annoying when you have kids with you, and thefront desk only gives you one key...and then you realize no one canleave the room with that key, because it has to stay in the slot to keepthe lights on. It's not so bad to have to go back downstairs to askfor a second key, but it would be nice if the front desk issued 2 keysas a standard practice, just because of the key requirement forelectricity in the room. So, for a first-time guest, ask for at least 2keys from the front desk when you check in.
The mini-fridge is quite small, and to use it, you have to push a button that only cools what's inside for 2 hours. So it is more like a cooler than a refrigerator. Not suitable for keeping perishable food cold overnight; so do not bring any breakfast food that has to be refrigerated for food safety reasons. The fridge is fine for things like water and sodas in bottles or cans; anything that can be re-cooled.
The parking lot is nice, safe and has wide spaces, but it is confusing when you leave as to which gate you exit from. It's NOT the same gate station where you enter the lot. It's on the opposite far side of the hotel. The first time we stayed here, I had to back up my car (luckily no one was behind me) and re-park, go into the hotel, and ask the front desk how to exit. We know now, but FOR A FIRST-TIME GUEST, ASK THE FRONT DESK AT CHECK-OUT TIME FROM WHICH GATE YOU SHOULD EXIT WITH YOUR PARKING PASS.
