Suwannee Canal Recreation Area (east entrance), 7 mi. s.w. on SR 23/121, then 4 mi. w. on the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge entrance road, is the main or eastern entrance to the refuge. A visitor center offers exhibits, a 14-minute film and information about recreational activities. A wildlife drive provides access to more than 10 miles of walking trails, a restored swamp homestead and a .75-mile boardwalk leading to a 50-foot observation tower. A concessionaire offers guided boat trips as well as canoe and kayak rentals, fishing supplies and food service.Guided tours are available. Pet friendly (call for restrictions/fees.). Recreational activities are permitted. Camping is permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available.
