Suwannee Canal Recreation Area (east entrance), 7 mi. s.w. on SR 23/121, then 4 mi. w. on the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge entrance road, is the main or eastern entrance to the refuge. A visitor center offers exhibits, a 14-minute film and information about recreational activities. A wildlife drive provides access to more than 10 miles of walking trails, a restored swamp homestead and a .75-mile boardwalk leading to a 50-foot observation tower. A concessionaire offers guided boat trips as well as canoe and kayak rentals, fishing supplies and food service.
Guided tours are available. Pets on leash are allowed. Recreational activities are permitted. Camping is permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available.
