AAA Editor Notes
Jarrell Plantation State Historic Site, 7 mi. s.e. via Round Oak-Juliette Rd. and Jarrell Plantation Rd. to 711 Jarrell Plantation Rd., belonged to the Jarrell family until 1974. An example of a working cotton plantation, this 236-acre historic site was settled in the 1840s and originally farmed with enslaved labor. Inside the two main residences are original 19th-century furnishings. Among the 20 historic buildings on the site are a mill complex with steam engines, a cotton gin, a blacksmith and woodworking shop, a syrup evaporator and a barn. Wear a pair of comfortable shoes for exploring.

Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
