Sweetwater Creek State Park is at 1750 Mt. Vernon Rd. This 2,549-acre park offers visitors an opportunity to explore the exterior ruins of a textile mill that was burned during the Civil War. The visitor center features wildlife and historic exhibits as well as offers trail maps. Recreational activities include hiking, fishing and picnicking. Ranger-led programs also are available.
Note: The interior mill ruins are temporarily closed due to structural issues and may not be stabilized for 2-3 years. In the meantime visitors can view the exterior.
Pets on leash are allowed. Recreational activities are permitted. Picnicking is permitted.
