Jack Hadley Black History Museum, 214 Alexander St., is located on the former campus of Douglas High School and is focused on local and national black history. The museum houses a collection of artifacts and memorabilia related to civil rights, films, the military, plantation life, politics, sports and writers. One highlight is a bronze statue of a Buffalo Soldier made by artist Eddie Dixon.

Hours: Tues.-Fri. 10-5, Sat. 11-4. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.
