Pebble Hill Plantation is 5 mi. s. on US 319. The former winter retreat of the Hanna family of Cleveland, Pebble Hill is surrounded by extensive grounds. The lavish neoclassical main house is typical of late 19th- and early 20th-century homes built in the area by wealthy Northerners. Sporting-themed art, antiques, Audubon prints and Native American artifacts are displayed in the main house. Grounds highlights include gardens, redbrick outbuildings and the stable complex. Guided tours are available.
Grounds $5; $2 (ages 2-12). Grounds and main house tour $15; $6 (ages 6-12). Ages 0-5 are not permitted in the main house.
Hours: Grounds open Tues.-Sat. 10-5, Sun. noon-5. Guided house tours are offered daily on the half-hour and hour; last tour begins at 3:45. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.
