Thomas County Museum of History is at 725 N. Dawson St. Museum exhibits depict the area's history and document the transformation of the county's antebellum cotton plantations into quail-hunting plantations. The museum consists of six historic buildings, including an 1870 log house, the 1896 Ewart bowling alley, the 1893 Metcalfe Courthouse and the 1910 Flowers Playhouse. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
Self-guiding tour $5; $1 (ages 0-17). Guided tour $8; $3 (ages 0-17).
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 9-4, Sept. 1 to mid-Aug. Phone for guided tour availability. Closed Memorial Day, Labor Day and major holidays.
