The Spice Basket & Legacy Valley Museum is 4.5 mi. (7.2 km) n.e. of downtown; follow signs. The museum provides a concise history of Grenada. Displays feature Amerindian artifacts and plantation records as well as information relative to the Grenada Revolution that occurred 1979-1983. Audio and video footage features historic events, including hurricanes that impacted the island. The West Indies Cricket Heritage Centre features uniforms and equipment, some dating from the 1800s. There is also a theater with performances highlighting Grenada's heritage through song and dance. Festivals take place at the museum throughout the year.
