Public Library (Biblioteca Pública) is 2 blks. n. of the main plaza at Calle Insurgentes #25. This is the second largest bilingual library in Latin America. Checking the variety of notices posted at the entrance (many in English) is a good way to find out what's going on around town.
A 2-hour house and garden tour of various San Miguel homes departs from the library on Sundays at noon, except on specified Sundays that celebrate Mexican and religious holidays. Tour tickets are available beginning at 11 a.m. Other library-sponsored guided tours visit the former silver mining town of Mineral de Pozos, the nearby communities of Atotonilco, Dolores Hidalgo and Tequisquiapan, and the cities of Guanajuato and Querétaro.
