Pros: Casa Schuck may well be the best place to stay in San Miguel, even if it's not the cheapest. The location is really good: at the top end of the town centre, but below the hill, so it is peaceful but just a very short walk from the centre. The building itself is a delightful house with exquisite courtyard gardens terraces and a little plunge pool, and the staff could not be kinder or more helpful. Note that the pool is a plunge pool, not suitable for doing lengths. We arrived late after a three and a half hour drive through the night. We had the warmest and easiest check-in we've ever had.Our room was on the ground floor, overlooking the street (but traffic noise was not an issue at all). The room was very beautiful, with high ceilings and a fireplace and a view to die for: from our bed we could see all the way down to the main square (this was great for the fireworks since we were there at Fiesta time). The bed was huge and very comfortable and there was lots of storage space. The bathroom was delightful, with a nice tub and shower tiled with locally made ceramics.Next morning, breakfast was an absolute knockout, with fresh juice, lovely fruit, some of the best coffee we've had in all Mexico, brilliant Mexican egg dishes and far more bread and muffins than we had room for. The terraces are lovely for sunbathing and the large sitting room and honesty bar with a fridge stocked with all manner of beers made the place even more welcoming.PeopleBut when we remember Casa Schuck from home, what stands out is how lovely all the people were and how welcoming and kind, from the owner to the kitchen staff, to the night porter to the admin people. They were all quite simply wonderful. We'll certainly stay there again if ever get the chance.Good to know:Wifi: Casa Schuck does the sensible thing: free wifi throughout at reasonable speed for as many devices as you want. How we wish that all hotels did this.
Pros: Super helpful staff, tidy premises, rooftops for views, good breakfast, quiet, classy, close to town center, nearly perfect.
