Cacahuamilpa Caves National Park

Cacahuamilpa Caves National Park (Parque Nacional Grutas de Cacahuamilpa) is at the intersection of Mex. 166 and Mex. 55, about 32 km (20 mi.) n.e. of Taxco. Spelunkers have burrowed more than 8 miles through the passageways of Grutas de Cacahuamilpa (kah-kah-wah-MEEL-pah) and still haven't reached the end. About half a mile of the vast labyrinth can be viewed from wide, paved pathways.
Huge chambers—100 feet high, 200 feet long and nearly as wide—hold an array of fantastic formations, some of which are enhanced by lighting. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
Spanish and English-speaking guides lead 90-minute tours of the caverns. Tours depart hourly.
