Hawaiian Railway Society is off SR 76 at 91-1001 Renton Rd. This open-air museum preserves the island’s railroad heritage. Static displays of historic rolling stock include steam and diesel locomotives, passenger cars, boxcars and flatcars. Narrated 90-minute train rides to Kahe Point are offered on weekends; the 3 p.m. rides include a stop for ice cream stop in Ko Olina. Phone for information about weekday rides. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
Grounds free. Train ride $12; $8 (ages 2-12 and 62+); free (ages 0-1 on lap). Train ride in parlor/observation car, available second Sun. of the month by reservation, $25.
Hours: Grounds daily 9-3. Train rides depart Sun. at 1 and 3, Sat. at 3; arrive at least 30 minutes before departure. Closed Christmas Eve and Christmas. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
