AAA Editor Notes

Hosmer Grove, just northwest of Park Headquarters Visitor Center in Haleakalā National Park, was the site of an experimental planting of temperate-climate trees around 1910. A half-mile nature trail points out the differences between introduced vegetation and rare native plants. This also is an excellent area for bird-watching.
Included in 3-day park pass of $20 (per private vehicle); $15 (per motorcyclist); $10 (per pedestrian or bicyclist). A Hawai‘i Tri-park Annual Pass (which also includes Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park and Pu‘uhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park) is $30.
Hours: Park open daily 24 hours, except during extreme weather conditions. Park Headquarters Visitor Center daily 8-3:45.
