AAA Editor Notes
Senator Fong’s Plantation and Gardens is at 47-285 Pulama Rd. Established in the windward O‘ahu rain forest, this 700-acre garden estate encompasses lush valleys and plateaus. A guided 1-mile walking tour explores landscaped gardens, fruit orchards and tropical foliage. Sen. Hiram Fong, who purchased the land in 1950 and is the gardens’ namesake, was the first Asian-American elected to serve in the United States Senate. Guests are invited to sample fruits off the trees and, for an additional charge, make lei at the visitor center.
Time: Allow 1 hour, 15 minutes minimum.
