Big Island Air departs from the commuter terminal at Kona International Airport at 73-103 U‘u St. Circle Island tours of Hawai‘i Island last 1.5 hours and include such sights as towering sea cliffs, black sand beaches, knife-edge ridges, rain forests, valleys, waterfalls, Kīlauea volcano and the mountains of Kohala. Pilots provide narration about the land’s geography, history, myths and legends. Stereo headsets are provided. A 1.5- to 2-hour Sunset tour also is offered.
Note: Due to decompression-related sickness, it is recommended that passengers wait 12-24 hours after scuba diving before flying; the amount of time is dependent on particular dive factors. Ask about possible policies regarding minimum wait time between scuba diving and flying; weight restrictions; weather, cancellation and refund policies; and the minimum and maximum number of passengers for flights. All small aircraft may encounter turbulence.
