AAA Editor Notes
Lapakahi State Historical Park, on SR 270 (Akoni Pule Hwy.), features remnants of a coastal settlement inhabited at least 600 years ago. Farmers who settled on the mountainside traded with the fishermen living along the shoreline. The remains of houses and canoe sheds as well as a curbed trail that led to the upland fields can be seen along a mile-long interpretive trail. A small visitor center includes exhibits and brochures.
Restrooms are available; drinking water is not.
Picnicking is permitted.
