Sierra Silver Mine Tour, at the corner of Fifth and Bank sts., takes visitors into an underground mine where they can view exhibits, equipment in operation and techniques used in hard-rock silver mining. Retired miners conduct the 75-minute guided tour, which includes a ride through town aboard a vintage-style trolley and anecdotes about the mining days. Costumed characters from local history lead a 50-minute tour to Burke, a nearby ghost town. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
Mine tour $15; $13 (ages 60+); $8.50 (ages 4-16); $47 (family, two adults and children). Trolley ride only $6. Ghost town tour $10; $6 (ages 4-16).
