Blackberry Farm's Pioneer Village is off I-88 Orchard Rd. exit, s. to Galena Blvd., then 1.5 mi. w. following signs to 100 S. Barnes Rd. This re-creation of an Illinois farm village contains a historic depot and house, pottery shop, smithy, carriage museum, one-room schoolhouse and pioneer cabin. The Early Streets Museum features historic items within an area that looks like a 19th-century commercial district. Re-created stores include a general store, music shop, pharmacy and a toy store. The Discovery Barn contains farm animals that may include chickens, sheep, piglets and baby goats. The Adventure Playground offers a network of climbing decks and a 70-foot-long zipline. Train, hay wagon, pedal tractor, carousel, paddleboat and pony rides are available. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available.
