Glessner House Museum, 1800 S. Prairie Ave., is an 1887 mansion built for John and Frances Glessner by renowned architect Henry Hobson Richardson. His nontraditional approach to Victorian design helped reform domestic architecture. Features include William Morris wallpaper and fabric as well as decorative arts and crafts by notable designers. Seventy-five-minute guided are offered. Guided tours are available.
Tour $15; $12 (ages 60+ and students with ID); $8 (ages 5-12); free (Wed.). Tours are limited to 15 persons per tour.
Hours: Visitor center open Wed.-Sun. 11-4. Tours depart Wed.-Sun. at 11:30, 1 and 2:30. Closed major holidays.
