Lincoln Park Zoo is on Cannon Dr. at Fullerton Pkwy in Lincoln Park. This historic, family-oriented wildlife park is home to more than 1,100 mammals, birds and reptiles, many of which are endangered species rarely seen elsewhere. The Regenstein Center for African Apes is an award-winning habitat housing gorillas and chimpanzees. The Regenstein African Journey is home to giraffes, wild dogs, meerkats and pygmy hippos among other animals. Japanese macaques are on display in the Regenstein Macaque Forest. Other key features include the Pritzker Family Children’s Zoo, home to red wolves, black bears, beavers and other North American wildlife, a carousel and a children's train ride. Farm-in-the-Zoo is a 5-acre replica of a working Illinois family farm. ZooLights, held late Nov.-early Jan., features holiday festivities and two million lights on display. Educational programs are offered. Food is available. Time: Allow 3 hours minimum.
