Lincoln Park Zoo is on Cannon Dr. at Fullerton Pkwy in Lincoln Park. This historic, family-oriented wildlife park is home to more than 700 mammals, birds and reptiles and thousands of insects, many of which are endangered species. The Regenstein Center for African Apes is an award-winning habitat housing gorillas and chimpanzees. The Regenstein African Journey is home to giraffes, wild dogs, meerkats and pygmy hippos among other animals. Japanese macaques are on display in the Regenstein Macaque Forest. Robert and Mayari Pritzker Penguin Cove is home to African penguins, and visitors can watch the antics of polar bears at the Walter Family Arctic Tundra. Other key features include the Pritzker Family Children’s Zoo, home to red wolves, black bears, beavers and other North American wildlife, a carousel, a children's train ride and Farm-in-the-Zoo. ZooLights, held late Nov.-early Jan., features holiday festivities, more than two million lights and one hundred displays. Educational programs are offered. Food is available.
