Pros: Very close to Amtrak and Greyhound, perfect for tranferring between them in walking distance. Staff were friendly and efficient.
Cons: I booked this place for the pool, but on arrival I was told that the pool is SEASONAL and is only open in summer. The website should have mentioned that! They should not advertise a pool when there isn't one!

Pros: N/A
Cons: 1. The 2 night room was nothing special and certainly NOT worth the money we paid! When we first arrived, we used the luggage cart located within the first set of doors. A male employee came out to out vehicle as we were loading our luggage onto the cart. The man said,"what are you doing? Are you trying g to steal my cart?" We thought he was joking so we laughed. He seemed to get angry and demanded his cart back. We were embarrassed and could understand what we did wrong as the man just took the cart and re-parked it in its original spot. So we carried our luggage in by hand. Later on, we were talking about the experience and came to the conclusion. That he must work on tips and thought we were taking his tip away by doing it without him. But, at the same time, he spoke rudely and never offered to help us. // 2. When we saw our room, we were astonished at how much we paid for such an "average" room. // 3. My group had traveled from Iowa and Michigan to Chicago as we had never been and heard such wonderful things he about the city. As we going out for the evening, a male staff member told us several places to go based on what we told him we were I referred in. He was very exhuberant in his presentation of suggestions and even gave us directions. We thought this was nice. Unfortunately, we spent over $100 in cab fare that evening alone just to end up at dead ends, establishments that had closed, places that were supposed to be geared for woman are now geared for men, etc. We finally stuffed ourselves into a little dive bar at 2 am. We were exhausted, frustrated, and very dissatisfied with the entire Chicago scene. We were fearless, however, and decided to continue on with our second day of the trip. // 4. On checkout day, upon speaking to male employee behind counter, I was told (as he laughed. I guess he thought I would think his revelation was humorous as well) that he couldn't believe how much I paid for the room.

Pros: The reception desk was very kind. We had erroneously booked our room for 28 April, where as we landed on 27 April. The reception told us of our mistake but kindly allowed us to use the room on 27April on same booking at no extra cost. We are deeply touched and grateful to Holiday Inn downtown at West Harrison street.
