May need to look into...
Pros: When I arrived, I was apparently meant to be on the sixth floor, but was moved up to the ninth.
Cons: I’ve been to Thompson every year, at the same time each year, for the last 4 or 5 years. It’s always been something I look forward to. I was eagerly looking forward to my stay this year as well, but aside from moving up three floors when checking in, things were lackluster. While checking in, I tried to inquire about what, if anything, the hotel had going on for NYE, and was given a list of things to look over for events in the city. Not what I asked for, but not the biggest deal. I’ve also enjoyed wonderful room service experiences in the past, but things were very different this year. My food came up ice cold, never has this happened before. The quality of what I was brought was overall subpar, which is not to be expected from Nico Osteria. Overall, my stay just wasn’t as top notch as it has been in the past. To top it off, had an extremely poor experience dining in Nico Osteria following checkout. Maybe the poor food and service from Nico is the biggest driving factor of my poor outlook on this stay. Even dining in the restaurant, food came out cold. Soup and entree came out at the same time. The chicken dish I ordered was extremely oily. I realize Thompson and Nico are separate, but they are also the same. Overall, both hotel and restaurant fell short of the expectations I had come to expect from my previous stays.
